Below is a list of events that are currently available from the Center for Evidence-Based Practices (CEBP) at Case Western Reserve University and its initiatives.






Video Conference: Caring for Caregivers: Recognition and Management of Boundaries, Burnout and Vicarious Trauma
Wednesday, March 31, 2010

This videoconference series will address the issue of trauma as it affects individual clients, clinicians, and systems of care. A history of trauma is extremely common in individuals presenting for mental health and/or substance use disorders treatment.



NW Region - Addiction Competencies for Co-Occurring Disorders Treatment Professionals
Wednesday, March 31, 2010 - 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM

Despite a significant prevalence of substance abuse disorders among individuals in traditional mental health treatment settings, service delivery in mental health has never fully addressed the need for core competency training and supervision as it affects individuals with co-occurring mental and substance related disorders.

The Regional Network Committee allows for the development of regionalized plans for training and other aspects of CCOE service delivery. This structure assists the implementation, development, and fidelity of integrated dual disorder treatment services in Ohio.



SW Region - Motivational Interviewing II
Thursday, April 15, 2010 - 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Motivational Interviewing is a collaborative, person-centered form of guiding to elicit and strengthen motivation for change. It is a way of working with persons to assist them in accessing their intrinsic motivation to change behaviors that contradict their essential values and interfere with the achievement of their life goals. Motivational Interviewing is both a philosophy and a set of strategic techniques. It is an evidence-based treatment with a broad range of applications. The Center for Evidence-Based Practices makes an attempt to incorporate exercises and examples specific to the unique practice settings of participants, with an emphasis on individuals with severe and persistent mental illness and/or substance use disorders.



Ohio’s Wellness Management and Recovery Program: Facilitating Wellness and Community Integration – Key Model Components/Part 1

The workshop will provide an overview of the implementation of an emerging best practice in Ohio, Wellness Management and Recovery (WMR).



Northwest Region IDDT Network Meeting
Thursday, April 29, 2010 - 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM

The Regional Network Committee allows for the development of regionalized plans for training and other aspects of CCOE service delivery. This structure assists the implementation, development, and fidelity of integrated dual disorder treatment services in Ohio. Meetings are held quarterly in a convenient location, staffed with a CCOE representative, and chaired by members of the committee. Participants are representative stakeholders involved in the delivery and use of services.

Thursday, May 6, 2010 - 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Thursday, May 13, 2010 - 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Clinical supervisors who provide meaningful supervision of Motivational Interviewing (MI) skill-development to service-team members must be equipped with some essential tools, including skill-evaluation, clinical feedback, and planning.

Conference 2010 [SAVE THE DATES] | Sustaining Evidence-Based Practices: The Next 10 Years
Tuesday, October 12, 2010 & Wednesday, October 13, 2010 & Thursday, October 14, 2010

(Do not register yet. Save the dates only.). . . This annual Conference will highlight national EBP research and lessons-learned by service organizations in Ohio and other states during EBP implementation. There will be several keynote presentations and a variety of practical workshops to help policy makers, leaders of organizations, and direct-service providers address current implementation challenges and help to sustain success in the coming decade.
