Below is a list of events that are currently available from the Ohio SAMI CCOE & the Ohio Supported Employment (SE) CCOE, both of which are programs of the Center for Evidence-Based Practices at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland (see "About" section of this site).

About Our Events
The Ohio SAMI CCOE & Ohio SE CCOE offer periodic regional meetings (professional peer-networking opportunities) and a variety of training events in locations throughout the State of Ohio, both in-person and as videoconferences. These events are designed to equip direct-service providers, team leaders, clinical supervisors, administrators, and policymakers with basic and advanced knowledge and skills for implementing and sustaining the Integrated Dual Disorder Treatment (IDDT) model and the Supported Employment (SE) model. Community advocates are also encouraged to attend our events.


Each event focuses on one or any combination of the following:

  • ·  Clinical change
  • ·  Organizational change
  • ·  Service-systems change





Northwest Region IDDT Network Meeting
Thursday, July 31, 2008 - 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM

The Regional Network Committee allows for the development of regionalized plans for training and other aspects of CCOE service delivery. This structure assists the implementation, development, and fidelity of integrated dual disorder treatment services in Ohio.



Motivational Intervention Skills Practice
Friday, August 1, 2008 - 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM

Learning and applying motivational interventions is a process that requires training, supervision and opportunities to practice skills and techniques. This session is designed for practitioners who have already completed core training in Motivational Interventions and who are looking for less emphasis upon theoretical framework and more emphasis upon skills practice opportunities.



Northeast Region IDDT Network Meeting
Wednesday, August 6, 2008 - 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM

The Regional Network Committee allows for the development of regionalized plans for training and other aspects of CCOE service delivery. This structure assists the implementation, development, and fidelity of integrated dual disorder treatment services in Ohio. Meetings are held quarterly in a convenient location, staffed with a CCOE representative, and chaired by members of the committee. Participants are representative stakeholders involved in the delivery and use of services.



Tobacco Recovery and Mental Illness
Friday, August 15, 2008 - 9:00 AM to 12:15 PM

Current research demonstrates that individuals with severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI) are more significantly impacted by tobacco dependence in many ways than the general population. . . . This training will review current research and the application of existing treatments, describe the newly developed Tobacco Recovery Model, and discuss implementation issues for organizations interested in pursuing this important initiative.



Ohio SAMI CCOE Conference 2008 | IDDT & Recovery: Consumers, Communities & Providers
Tuesday, September 16, 2008 & Wednesday, September 17, 2008

50+ practical workshops | Keynote speakers Robert E. Drake, MD, co-creator of IDDT, and Carlo DiClemente, PhD, co-creator of the stages-of-change model. | . . . The conference is designed for those who want to acquire more information and practical skills for enahncing treatment and services for people with co-occurring severe mental illness and substance use disorders using Integrated Dual Disorder Treatment (IDDT), the evidence based practice. The conference is also designed for those seeking more contact with the professional peer-networks that will help develop, sustain, and expand integrated treatment in their organizations and communities.




Annual Medical Professionals Training: Advancing Tobacco Recovery in Integrated Dual Disorder Treatment (IDDT) Programs
Tuesday, October 14, 2008 - 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM

An overwhelming majority of people with co-occurring severe mental illness and substance use disorders also have an addiction to harmful tobacco products. On average, people with severe mental illness die 20 to 25 years earlier from tobacco-related illnesses than those not diagnosed with a severe mental illness. This training will help medical professionals advance tobacco recovery among consumers with principles and practices of Integrated Dual Disorder Treatment (IDDT).
